Hayward

It presently hosts a population of 153,104 people, making it the third largest city within Alameda County and the sixth biggest city in the San Francisco area. Some suburbs that have been incorporated into the city are Russell City, Schafer Park and Mount Eden.

The Southland Mall is the largest shopping center within Hayward, providing various stores comprising mega corporations Sear's and Macy's. Several major chain stores situated here include Office Depot, Home Depot, and Target (which is situated at the Skywest Commons Mall). There is a large variety of manufacturing companies which are located in Hayward also, like Kobe Steel (which operates Kobe Precision), and PepsiCo (A bottling group facility). Shasta, the softdrink business has chosen to make Hayward the home of its head office, as has Gillig Corporation (a manufacturer of school buses), Andersen Bakery, and Dust Networks.

Businesses which have either a factory or facility within Hayward comprise Bianchi Bicycles, Bianchi USA, Costco Business Center, Nhey kagawa, Azuma Foods International and Manheim San Fransisco Bay. Simms' Custom Cycles chose to have their head office within Hayward. Chaosium, a role-playing game publisher, is also based there.

City hall has had three places within Hayward. The tallest building within downtown Hayward is one of the old City Hall buildings, that is presently abandoned. The Hayward Public Library is also situated downtown, together with the Hayward Area Historical Society, white runs the museum. Previous to claiming for bankruptcy, the headquarters for Mervyn's department store chains were located there too. The only movie theatre in the city, the Cinema Place complex, can be found downtown.
