Forklift Parts Torrance - Torrance is situated in the South Bay region of Los Angeles County. It was incorporated during the year 1921 and presently hosts a population of approximately 149,111. The city is the 8th largest within the county and the 35th biggest in the state. Even with it's beautiful, 1.5 mile shore front beaches bordering on the Pacific Ocean and the year round warm temperatures, Torrance is less visited by tourists compared to other parts of Southern California, like Redondo Beach and Palos Verdes Estates. There is an average rainfall of 12.55 inches every year.
The city is mostly centered on residential and light high tech industries. Some automotive companies have chosen Torrance as their headquarters. These include, but are not limited to, Toyota Motor Sales, American Honda Motor Company, Honeywell's Garret Turbochargers, Alpine Electronics, Speed Star Racing Wheels, Tanabe Racing Development, Koyo Radiators, Stoptech Brakes, Cosworth, and Edelbrock. Various companies that have head office in Torrance are Sunrider International, Lakai, Globe, Tablet Kiost and Tecmo. Panasonic has a Blue-Ray and DVD-RAM media manufacturing plant in the city. King's Hawaiian, that markets the dominant brand of Hawaiian bread in North American, has its main baking facility located within Torrance. Robinson Helicopters are designed and built in the city also.
Torrance is also a major player within the oil industry and provides the majority of Southern California's gasoline supply. In the past, the city was littered with thousands of oil wells and derricks but as the supply of oil gradually diminishes, the number of wells goes down as well. Within the northern part of the city is the ExxonMobil refining facility. Before the Pacific Electric Railway closed down, Torrance was an essential hub and shop site of the train.
The city prides itself in combining the ideal metropolitan lifestyle with the beauty of nature. There are over 90,000 street trees lining the roads and 30 parks located throughout the city.
The AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) had its birthplace within Torrance and the Gracie Jiu Jitsu Academy also has its head office here.
Torrance has a busy general aviation airport called Zamperini Field. It was previously named the Torrance Airport but was renamed after Louis Zamperini, a WWII hero and a former local track star. In 1974, it dealt with over 428,000 take offs and landings, but has ever since declined to an annual average of 175,000 (roughly 473 each day). Among the major local problems of the city is the abatement of airport noise. Zamperini Field is the proud home of the Western Museum of Flight, which moved there in the year 2007.
