When and Where is an Electric Stacker useful?

An Electric Stacker is a compact forklift which is especially useful in contexts where there is constraint of space and maneuverability. The design of the electric stacker is such that it is amenable to lifting and transporting items that are broad and flat in size and shape, such as pallets, tubes and slabs. The equipment is driven by an underlying hydraulic system.

The stacker functions with the help of metal prongs or arms capable of upward and downward movement along a shaft. These prongs can be slid beneath the item to be lifted, and after the prongs are firmly in place and the operator judges that the item can be lifted, all they have to do is to press the button to lift the prongs up. Wheels beneath the electric stacker allow the operator to transport the items to the desired location.

The electric stacker is ergonomically designed, so the operator has a comfortable seat to perform their operations. The equipment is powered electrically, making it capable of lifting items with weight upwards of a ton. The items may be pallets comprising multiple boxes, which can be transported as a single unit, instead of transporting them piece after piece.

This capability is useful in places such as order fulfillment centers, for example, where a customer order has to be fulfilled in one go, as one batch of items that has been asked for by the customer. Arranging items in a consolidated fashion in the warehouse too becomes possible because of this capability. Large hardware and warehouse superstore environments also find electric stackers useful. Food and electronic items that are meant to be displayed on single shelves can be moved wholesale from warehouse to the display area and back again. Similarly, bound lumber, piping etc can be lifted and moved with the electric stacker far more conveniently and quickly than they can be by manual labor.

Electric stackers also find use at construction sites, for the purpose of transporting building material. Although large earth movers are pressed into service at the time of foundation work, the electric stacker works in the background to transport infrastructural items. Even pallets of cumbersome size, including wall and floor components, can be easily moved around with the help of an electric stacker.
