Why do people use forklift extensions?

The fork extensions are essentially meant to provide that extra support that can help lift and manage long or large objects. These extensions are composed from welded steel, using cast steel tips. They are typically fastened to the forks with the help of steel retaining straps, so that they do not slide off the forks. It is very common to see the extensions being given a powdered coat yellow finish. As per OSHA regulations, fork extensions must not be more than 50% of the existing fork length.
